A mother broke down at the Hohoe Circuit Court after her son was slapped with 15-years sentence.
The son, Yussif Abubakar was charged for stealing from the company he worked as a manager.
Working as the manager at a branch of the Star Oil Company, he squandered GH¢139,118 of the company’s sales.
Yussif Abubakar used the money to stake multiple bets but with the aim of making quick profit to replace it.
He pleaded not guilty but was found guilty after the court trial.
The presiding judge, Mr Yaw Opoku Acheampong, in a 30-minute sentence said he would have sentenced him to 20 years but the convict, throughout the trial showed remorse for his action.
